📖 A sonic journey through the history of big bands

The Sant Andreu Jazz Band caps its 20th anniversary celebrations with an ambitious commissioned programme charting the rich evolution of large jazz ensembles across twenty iconic formations.

The concert spans early pre-swing and classic swing traditions—featuring music associated with Fletcher Henderson, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Glenn Miller—through to modern innovators such as Maria Schneider, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The programme will also delve into bebop and other movements, paying homage to trailblazers like Woody Herman, Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, and Charles Mingus.

🎶 Artist portrait and twenty years of jazz legacy

Founded and musically directed by Joan Chamorro, the ensemble celebrates twenty years of music-making at its artistic peak. This annual festive date at the Palau features special guests including violinist Èlia Bastida, vocalist Edu Ferrer, saxophonist and clarinetist Joan Martí, and trumpeter Joan Mar Sauqué.
