📖 The art of piano and learning to live
Madame Pylinska advocates an eccentric method for piano playing: lying down under the instrument, drawing circles on water, watching the wind, listening to silence, and loving unhurriedly. Through these unconventional lessons, young Éric-Emmanuel discovers what lies beyond music: learning how to live. Through Chopin’s works, the narrator seeks his own path and uncovers a loved one’s haunting secret.
📚 Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt and Nicolas Stavy
The piece is performed by the author himself, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, a member of the Académie Goncourt and one of the leading figures in modern French literature and theatre. He is joined on stage by pianist Nicolas Stavy, a special prize winner at the Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition.
ℹ️ Good to know: Performed in French with surtitles in Catalan and Spanish. Recommended for ages 14 and up. Duration: approximately 105 minutes without intermission.
