📖 Power struggles and silent conflicts
Inside an inn marked by tensions and silences, Andreu asserts his dominance over three women: his wife Magdalena, his mother who has lost the ability to speak, and the maid Camèlia, who has become his lover. However, Camèlia refuses to accept her subservient role and aspires to become mistress of the house.
Through this intimate setting, the drama explores patriarchal control, rivalry and solidarity among women, and the silent violence underlying social ties.
🎭 Mercè Rodoreda's dramatic vision
The production presents Rodoreda in her rawest form, examining human nature with sharp precision on the stage of the National Theatre under Carme Portaceli's direction.
