📖 An acoustic bridge between the Pyrenees and the museum
For eight hundred years, Romanesque mural paintings were an integral part of the Pyrenean churches for which they were created. Their removal and transfer to Barcelona safeguarded them, but severed their link with their living soundscape and original surroundings.
Ona Balló introduces a journey through the museum's Romanesque rooms composed of sounds recorded today in Pyrenean churches and valleys. Moving through the apses of Santa Maria d'Àneu, Sant Pere del Burgal, Sant Pere and Sant Pau d'Esterri de Cardós, Santa Maria de Ginestarre, Santa Maria de Taüll, and Santa Eulàlia d'Estaon, the experience summons what cannot physically be transported.
🎨 Contemporary sound within medieval art
This exhibition opens a direct dialogue with the iconic collections at the MNAC, aiming to briefly reconnect the medieval murals with their foundational spirit.
✨ A unique auditory journey rediscovering medieval masterpieces through the living sounds of their native valleys.
