📖 The 1930 drawing and Georges Bataille's influence

At the heart of the exhibition is Sense títol (1930), a pencil drawing on Ingres paper recently added to the museum's holdings thanks to a generous gift from Françoise Marquet Zao.

Alongside the finished piece, visitors can examine the preliminary sketches Miró drew for the entire series. These studies were very likely inspired by Georges Bataille's critical article 'Le Gros Orteil', published in the French avant-garde journal Documents in November 1929.

🎨 Archival discoveries in Montjuïc

With its Obrir l'arxiu series, the contemporary art center on Montjuïc sheds light on preparatory sketches and historical documents, offering fresh perspectives on Miró's inventive path.

ℹ️ Good to know: Closed on Mondays. Free entry is available for children under 12 accompanied by an adult, unemployed visitors, ICOM and CIMAM members, and accredited Friends and Benefactors.

✨ A unique opportunity to explore Miró's creative genesis in dialogue with European avant-garde ideas.
