Fundació Foto Colectania presents a fresh reading of its holdings in the exhibition "Emancipations", exploring the visual medium's role in modern social transformation. 🎨
Curated by Florian Ebner, Head of the Photography Department at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the exhibition places Spanish photography in direct conversation with European modernity.

📖 The story of two emancipations
The exhibition traces the parallel evolution of Spanish society and photographic language. On one hand, it addresses how society moved past a paternalistic framework toward modernity following World War II and the end of the Franco regime.
On the other hand, it reflects the medium's own emancipation, evolving from small-format informational work into ambitious, large-scale, and contemplative artistic imagery.
🎨 Dialogue with European modernity
Through Florian Ebner's curatorial approach to the Foto Colectania Collection, these works demonstrate how Spanish photography actively engaged with the broader aesthetics of its time.
ℹ️ Good to know: Closed on public holidays. Reduced admission applies to students up to 28, visitors over 65, teacher cardholders, photography associations, PAAC, Laie cardholders, and La Vanguardia subscribers (including 2-for-1).
