📖 Fifty years of textile experimentation

The exhibition traces the career of Aurèlia Muñoz (1926–2011) through collages, assemblages, pictorial embroideries, large macramé structures, kite-sculptures, handmade paper installations, drawings, and scale models. Her practice pushes beyond traditional textile boundaries to merge ancestral techniques with contemporary resources.

The project highlights her dialogue with terrestrial, aquatic, and aerial ecosystems. The display includes works on loan from institutional collections across Spain, Europe, and the United States, alongside previously unpublished materials.

🎨 The artist and the museum

Aurèlia Muñoz explored sculptural space through textile materials and knotting, consolidating a singular voice within 20th-century art. MACBA revisits her legacy with a fresh perspective in the heart of Barcelona.
