📖 Memory of a vanished landscape
The Icària Archive gathers the extensive body of work produced by Martí Llorens between 1987 and 1992, during the radical makeover of the former industrial area on Avinguda d'Icària and the building of the Vila Olímpica. The exhibition offers a critical rereading focused on the disappearance of a working-class industrial area and the birth of a new city model.
The display brings together fine-art and documentary photography alongside items salvaged during demolition works, including architectural plans, historical documents, and discarded objects, as well as materials produced during construction.
🏛️ The photographer and the collection
Martí Llorens (Barcelona, 1962) systematically recorded both the demolitions and the emergence of the new quarter. Preserved by Factoría Heliográfica, this documentary collection stands as a crucial visual record of the city's recent past.
ℹ️ Good to know: Closed on non-holiday Mondays.
