📖 Utopian architecture and desert memory
The exhibition centres on The Terminal Beach, the final chapter of a trilogy examining temporality through three architectural works by Ricardo Bofill and three stories by James Graham Ballard. Using a road movie format, Moreno documents the present-day state of a nomadic settlement built by Bofill in 1979 in the Algerian Sahara, commissioned by President Houari Boumédienne.
The unfinished complex, conceived according to modernist ideals when the RBTA studio brought together architects, poets, and painters, exposes the friction between utopian aspirations and lingering colonial legacies.
