📖 Literature reflecting the LGBTQ+ refugee reality
This session focuses on the work On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong (published in Catalan as En aquest món, per un moment, som grandiosos and in Spanish as En la Tierra somos fugazmente grandiosos). Taking the author's pages as a starting point, the club opens up a dialogue on reality, displacement, and the complex journeys of LGBTQ+ refugees.
The discussion invites participants to share reflections, examine the themes addressed in the novel, and bring together perspectives on migration and affective diversity depicted in contemporary literature.
📚 Facilitation and venue
The in-person session is facilitated by Edith Laverde, an LGBTQ+ refugee from Colombia, who guides the dialogue and the exchange of viewpoints among attendees.
The gathering takes place at Biblioteca Andreu Nin in Ciutat Vella, brought together by the CCAR (Comissió Catalana d’Acció pel Refugi).
✨ A literary meeting space to converse on diversity, asylum, and shared memory.
