Eleven days of fantastic cinema by the sea, half an hour from Barcelona. The world's leading genre festival takes over Sitges once again. 🎬🩸
The 59th edition revolves around the 50th anniversary of Brian De Palma's Carrie and of Narciso Ibáñez Serrador's Who Can Kill a Child?. The poster, created by the China agency, shows a teenage girl covered in shiny red strips: the prom night blood shower turned into the image of the whole edition.
🎬 SITGES FILM FESTIVAL 2026
📅 8 to 18 October 2026
📍 Auditori Meliá Sitges and venues across the town
🎟️ Tickets from €4 — passes and ticket packs available
📖 What's on
International premieres of horror, science fiction and fantasy, competitive sections, animation, short films, restored classics and the Sitges Family strand for younger audiences.
The festival is also Q&As with directors, cast presentations and a Zombie Walk that fills the streets of the town.
🏛️ Why it matters
Founded in 1968, Sitges is the world reference for fantastic cinema and the place where many later cult titles had their first Spanish screening. Every October the whole town turns into a cinema.
💶 Prices
General admission is €12 and Auditorium seats €13. Family sessions cost €4 and early morning screenings €7. There are passes (Matinée €130, Auditorium €315) and exchangeable ticket packs from €30.
ℹ️ Good to know: screenings sell out, so book ahead. Most films are shown in their original language with subtitles, usually Spanish or Catalan. Sitges is about 40 minutes from Barcelona by Rodalies train.
✨ Eleven days to live fantastic cinema where it all began.
