Samara Joy presents her latest studio album, Portrait, arranged and performed with a seven-piece ensemble. The concert program includes arrangements featuring her own lyrics set to compositions by Charles Mingus, as well as pieces by figures like Sun Ra and her mentor Barry Harris.

After her debut at the festival in 2022 and having won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019, Joy returns to Barcelona backed by six Grammy awards. Her voice evokes legendary masters such as Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, and Carmen McRae.
