📖 Passion, contrast, and spirituality

Composed in memory of the poet Alessandro Manzoni, this requiem transcends the boundaries of a traditional funeral mass. The score builds constant dramatic tension between chorus and orchestra, ranging from the overwhelming power of the "Dies Irae" to the serene sorrow of the "Lacrimosa".

Driven by an operatic sensibility, soloists and ensemble enter into an expressive musical dialogue between life, death, piety, and transgression.

🎶 An outstanding cast

The performance features the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu conducted by Nicola Luisotti, alongside the Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu under chorus director Pablo Assante.

The distinguished solo quartet comprises soprano Lise Davidsen, mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, tenor Freddie De Tommaso, and bass Christian Van Horn.

✨ A monumental symphonic and choral event on La Rambla.
