A piece of wood, a carpenter's workshop and a Pinocchio built live on stage. Barcelona premiere. 🎭🪵

British puppeteer Steve Tiplady, former artistic director of London's Little Angel Theatre, closes the 21st International Puppet Festival with an adaptation that marks Carlo Collodi's bicentenary.

🎭 PINOCCHIO

📅 Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026

🕐 Friday 6 pm · Saturday 12 noon and 6 pm · Sunday 12 noon and 5 pm

📍 Teatre La Puntual, La Ribera (Barcelona)

🎟️ Tickets from €10

📖 The story

Playing Geppetto, Tiplady uses the objects in his workshop to tell the story of the puppet who wanted to be a real boy. Puppets, shadows and music bring to life a mischievous, curious character hungry for adventure.

Pinocchio will face cunning foxes and giant sharks, learn why telling the truth matters and discover how far a father's love can go. There is plenty of improvisation, so every performance is unique.

🎨 Saturday special session

On Saturday 31 at 12 noon, after the show, there is a talk with the artist and a free puppet workshop, no booking needed for ticket holders of that session. Founded in 2005, it is the only venue in Barcelona devoted to puppets, marionettes, shadow play and object theatre. It sits in the heart of La Ribera, a neighbourhood with a puppetry tradition going back to the late 19th century, and is run by Eugenio and Néstor Navarro, father and son.

ℹ️ Good to know: in English and Spanish with little text; 50 minutes, ages 3 and up (ideal for 4 to 9).

✨ A handcrafted Pinocchio, built right in front of the children.
