📖 Beethoven, Ligeti and Stockhausen on Piano

The program offers a compelling contrast between classical craftsmanship and modern sonic experimentation. The evening features Ludwig van Beethoven's Eleven Bagatelles, Op. 119, concise miniatures filled with harmonic invention, and concludes with one of his most celebrated and passionate masterpieces: the Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor, Op. 57, “Appassionata”.

In conversation with Beethoven's masterworks, Aimard performs two landmarks of modern piano literature: György Ligeti's experimental cycle Musica ricercata, built on rhythmic and structural exploration, alongside Karlheinz Stockhausen's seminal Klavierstück IX, renowned for its repeated chords and subtle acoustic textures.
