📖 The story
Brooklyn, 1955. Eddie Carbone, an Italian-born longshoreman, lives with his wife and his niece, whom he loves with an intensity he neither understands nor wants to admit. When two relatives arrive as illegal immigrants, a hidden desire surfaces and leads to tragedy: Eddie will betray his family and break the code of silence among the dock workers.
Miller dissects how love can turn into possession and desire into violence. A strikingly relevant play about immigration and the power structures that still shape our relationships.
🎬 The cast
David Selvas (Eddie), Laura Conejero (Beatrice), Laura Gaja (Catherine), Eduard Buch (Alfieri), Nil Cardoner (Marco) and Jan D. Casablancas (Rodolpho). Catalan translation by Joan Sellent.
ℹ️ Good to know: performed in Catalan, 90 minutes, ages 14 and up. Accessible performance on 21 November at 8 pm.
✨ A 20th-century classic that still hurts like the first time.
