📖 The unstoppable groove of a leading drummer

Nate Smith is recognized as one of the essential drummers in contemporary jazz. Deeply rooted in pure jazz tradition, his sound journeys effortlessly through funk, soul, and psychedelia, driven by prodigious technical mastery on stage.

For this concert, Smith leads a formidable ensemble featuring Julian "J3PO" Pollack on piano, keys, and synths, CARRTOONS on bass, and Hailey Niswanger on saxophone, crafting a live show rich in nuance and rhythm.

🎶 A leader's debut and prestigious career milestones

This appearance marks Smith's debut as a bandleader at the Barcelona festival during a landmark year, coinciding with his appointment as artistic director of the historic Newport Jazz Festival. His musical significance was underscored in 2019 by Newport founder George Wein, who proclaimed that Nate Smith is a leader who will definitely leave a mark on the jazz of the future.

✨ An unforgettable night of modern jazz, funk, and high-energy music at Sala Apolo.
