📖 Premieres and musical remembrance

Following the memorial's established tradition, the concert will premiere an original piece commissioned from Catalan composer Sílvia Lanao, who writes for the cobla ensemble for the very first time, bringing fresh creative approaches to this historic format.

The event also marks the centenary of the birth of Pepita Llunell with the world premiere of one of her unpublished suites. The commemorative program dedicated to Joaquim Serra will be performed by two leading ensembles: Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona and Cobla Mediterrània. As in previous years, the evening will be hosted by Sabadell-based broadcaster Jordi Saura.

🎶 A lasting concert tradition

The Memorial Joaquim Serra grew out of the former Joaquim Serra Awards, promoted by Agrupació Cultural Folklòrica Barcelona alongside the activities of its Amics dels Concerts branch. Over decades, it has been hosted at major Barcelona venues such as the Palau de la Música, Teatre Romea, Auditori Axa, and L'Auditori, before establishing its home within the cycle at Poblenou's Teatre de l'Aliança while keeping its autonomous organization.

✨ An exceptional opportunity to experience the depth of cobla music and discover freshly premiered compositions.
