📖 Verdi between virtual worlds and retro aesthetics
Jordi Casanovas’ dramaturgy moves the operatic conflict into the digital realm. Aina, the young protagonist, dives into a virtual world where she confronts the dilemmas, passions, and struggles of Verdi's characters, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.
Verdi's music is reimagined with new arrangements and compositions by Marian Márquez, performed live by the Ensemble de la Simfònica del Vallès under Dani Perpiñán’s musical direction, starring Rosa Maria Abella, Joan Garcia Gomà, Arnau Torres, and Yasmin Forastiero.
🎨 Staging and visual legacy
Onionlab designs a technological environment referencing early video games while offering a contemporary reimagining of the legendary sets Josep Mestres Cabanes created for the Liceu in 1945.
ℹ️ Good to know: Recommended for ages 8 and up. The performance includes surtitles and audiovisual projections.
✨ An exciting and accessible gateway to opera for younger generations.
