🎼 The programme
- Dmitri Shostakovich: Symphony No. 7 in C major, Op. 60, "Leningrad"
🎻 The performers
Dudamel grew up musically in El Sistema, Venezuela's youth orchestra programme, and is now one of the most celebrated conductors in the world. With his young musicians he performs a symphony written in 1941 during the siege of Leningrad and premiered in the besieged city in 1942: over an hour of music that is lament, resistance and triumph all at once.
🏛️ The venue
L'Auditori, designed by Rafael Moneo and opened in 1999 in the Fort Pienc neighbourhood, is home to the Barcelona Symphony and Catalonia National Orchestra and one of the country's great music venues. Its acoustics make it a regular stop for the world's leading orchestras and soloists.
ℹ️ Good to know: arrive about 20 minutes early; the cheapest seats tend to sell out first. Tickets on the BCN Clàssics website.
✨ A night of overwhelming energy that doesn't come around every season.
