📖 Collective reflection on urban life

Cities are often landscapes of sharp inequality where not everyone enjoys the same place or the same basic rights. The documentary "Un lugar en la Ciudad" addresses this reality by exploring how everyday urban life can be collectively reshaped from the bottom up.

The film gathers inspiring firsthand accounts and community initiatives from Rosario in Argentina, Santiago in Chile, and Belo Horizonte in Brazil. Through these real-life perspectives, it highlights collective power and grassroots action in defending common urban spaces.

Stemming from an academic research project led by Gabriel Silvestre, PhD in Planning Studies and lecturer at Newcastle University, the work demonstrates how social movements, grassroots coalitions, and urban researchers put the right to the city into practice through solidarity, mutual care, and creativity.

🤝 Neighborhood dialogue and global perspectives

This event is co-organized by the Aula Ambiental del districte de Sant Andreu and the Agrupació de Gent Gran de Trinitat Vella. Director Gabriel Silvestre will attend in person to introduce the documentary and answer questions from the audience during the subsequent debate.

The session is held as part of the Tardor Solidària program under the motto "Habitar el territori", as well as in connection with the World Capital of Architecture initiatives.

✨ A meaningful opportunity to discuss the collective right to the city alongside the documentary's director.
