One weekend a year, Barcelona opens the doors of buildings that are normally closed to visitors. And it is free. 🏛️🚪
The 17th edition of the architecture festival brings together around 200 spaces to visit, plus itineraries and activities, with volunteers and professionals explaining each building.

🏗️ Everyday architecture
This year's theme is the spaces we live in: buildings, but also streets, squares and parks, and how they shape city life. Around 30% of the spaces are new to the festival. They include Casa Cupra in the Raval, the Casa de l'Arquitectura (the former Gustavo Gili publishing house, a rationalist icon of the Eixample), the CEM Espronceda sports centre in Sant Andreu, the Palau del Marquès d'Alfarràs inside the Laberint d'Horta park, and some remarkable private homes.
🥚 Jujol's Torre de la Creu
One of the most eagerly awaited visits is in Sant Joan Despí: the Torre de la Creu, a modernista gem by Josep Maria Jujol, one of Gaudí's collaborators, popularly known as the «Tower of the Eggs» for its ceramic mosaic domes. It is listed as a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
ℹ️ Good to know: most visits are explained in Catalan or Spanish. The full programme is published on 5 October on the festival website. To avoid queues, the Open House map shows how busy each space is in real time. Some visits require registration.
✨ The autumn plan: sneak into a stranger's home and then go for a vermouth.
